#1 READY, SET, PREP: Most of it is done by creating a really good foundation. Always, always, always apply a foundation layer – styling products are designed to work ‘on’ the hair, not ‘in’ the hair and your foundation layer will even out the porosity. Our favourite and No.1 best-selling product is Ciment Thermique (£20.90), apply through mid-lengths and ends and then work through roots. Now add your volumising product – novo favourite is Root Boost by Moroccan Oil (£18.85). Apply section by section and bring it down a little into mid-lengths and ends.

#2 PUMP UP THE VOLUME: Turn your head upside down and blast it with a hair dryer until it’s 75% dry. If you sit and blow-dry it section by section from soaking wet, you probably won’t get it very dry and it will just fall flat. Instead, part your hair into three sections and use a large barrel brush to finish – the MI salon collection brushes are available at novo starting from £15.00.

#3 SMOOTH IT OVER: When finishing off your blow-dry make sure the hair dryer nozzle points down, flat against your hair cuticles. If you dry against them your hair will look frizzy.
